Advanced Open Water Diver

Prerequisite(s): Open Water Diver

The PADI Advanced Open Water (AOW) Diver course is a second level class that will further develop your skills as a diver. The course consists of five open water dives. Each dive focuses on one specific topic that will provide the student with detailed instruction and practical application to improve his or her skills beyond the basic entry level. The more your skills and techniques improve, the more confident you will become as a diver. Upon completing the AOW Class, you will be able to broaden your dive experience and explore a wider range of underwater environments.

The base cost of this course is $250.00. This price includes:
• Open water instruction
• PADI Crew Pack
• Certification

Additional fees may include:
• Quarry Fees
• Rental Gear

Each dive will begin by revisiting the Knowledge Review Questions from the corresponding chapter in the Advanced Open Water Student Manual, followed by a dive briefing and the dive. Each dive will consist of a series of skills related to specific Advanced Open Water topics.

Deep Diver and Underwater Navigator are the two mandatory core dives conducted as part of the AOW Class.

The Deep Dive will certify students to dive to 100 feet. Several dexterity and buoyancy skills will be conducted while at depth. The remainder of the time will be used to tour the area. Students will then utilize safety stops on the way to the surface.

During the Navigation Dive students will be given more detailed compass and natural navigation techniques including pace counts, navigating squares, and more.

The student will have several elective dive choices available to them as part of the AOW class. The elective dives routinely conducted at Seadragon Scuba are:
• Peak Performance Buoyancy
• Search & Recovery
• Night

Other elective dives for this class include:
• Wreck Diving
• Altitude Diving
• AWARE Fish Identification
• Boat Diving
• Drift Diving
• Dry Suit
• Multilevel and Computer Diving
• Underwater Naturalist
• Underwater Photography
• Underwater Videography

The Advanced Open Water training/certification dives will be conducted at a local dive site (lake, river, or quarry) and will consist of the above five dives and provide plenty of dive time with your instructor and certified assistants.
